Goldberg<\/a> of Microsoft Research was recognized &#8220;For contributions to fundamental theoretical and practical problems in the design and analysis of algorithms&#8221;.\u00a0 Goldberg has a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.avglab.com\/andrew\/soft.html\">very nice set of codes for network optimization<\/a> that is used quite a bit in the world of operations research.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/people.csail.mit.edu\/karger\/\">David Karger<\/a> of MIT was recognized &#8220;For efficient algorithms for combinatorial optimization problems\u00a0 based on randomization&#8221;.
