In celebration of his 80th birthday, friends and colleagues gathered in Maryland in February for a Festschrift.  The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Perspectives-Operations-Research-Birthday-Interfaces\/dp\/038739933X\/sr=8-1\/qid=1161702941\/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1\/102-3981259-9772956?ie=UTF8&#038;s=books\">book of this celebration<\/a> is coming out from Springer (Amazon link given, since I can&#8217;t find it on Springer:  buy it at the conference since often they give a conference discount). Saul will be signing the book from 3-4:30 PM Monday November 6 at the INFORMS Meeting.  I bet he would sign some of his other books (like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.springerlink.com\/content\/?mode=allwords&#038;k=gass&#038;sortorder=asc&#038;Content+Type=Books\">The Annotated Timeline<\/a> with Arjan Assad, his classic <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Linear-Programming-Methods-Applications-Fifth\/dp\/048643284X\/sr=1-2\/qid=1161744925\/ref=sr_1_2\/104-7492728-1895924?ie=UTF8&#038;s=books\">Linear Programming: Methods and Applications<\/a> reprinted by Dover, or if you are particularly well-heeled, his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Encyclopedia-Operations-Research-Management-Science\/dp\/079237827X\/sr=1-5\/qid=1161745072\/ref=sr_1_5\/104-7492728-1895924?ie=UTF8&#038;s=books\">Encyclopedia of Operations Research<\/a> with the late Carl Harris) if you asked nicely.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Saul Gass is one of the great people in OR.
