The thing I like best is the use of simple probability\/queueing\/stochastic systems to point out the misconceptions of many gamblers.   A little probability goes a long way, but it seems that many gamblers are not willing to even take the first steps in probability theory.<\/p>\n<p>A recent post on that blog pointed me to <a href=\"http:\/\/stochastix.wordpress.com\/\">Perfectly Reasonable Deviations<\/a>, a blog on &#8220;random ramblings on science, technology, and other such stuff&#8221;.  A <a href=\"http:\/\/stochastix.wordpress.com\/2007\/03\/26\/using-convex-optimization\/\">recent entry there<\/a> reviewed the book <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Convex-Optimization-Stephen-Boyd\/dp\/0521833787\">Convex Optimization<\/a> by Boyd and Vandenberghe.
