The<a href=\"http:\/\/www.informs.org\/Conf\/NO2005\/\"> INFORMS San Francisco (nee New Orleans)<\/a> conference has a guy named Gary Lorden speaking. Gary Lorden? Who the heck is he?<\/p>\n<p>It turns out <a href=\"http:\/\/www.math.caltech.edu\/people\/lorden.html\">Gary<\/a> is the mathematical advisor for the TV show <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbs.com\/primetime\/numb3rs\/\">Numb3rs<\/a>, a crime show whose solution is generally based on mathematics of some sort. I found a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fanrush.com\/forums\/showthread.php?t=2079&#038;page=1\">review of one of his previous lectures<\/a>:  it sounds like it will be a blast!
