Anyhow, Jenny, who is Christine's maid, tells SM and Square (page 112) about the leopard's paw-print: "They come for the dogs." Seeing the men's disapproval (why?)..."the word 'spots' died in her mouth." What could she have been about to say? Probably the old cliché about the leopard not changing her spots.
